Case Study: Non-Profit

Empowering Disabled Athletes

Non-profit increases donations more than 100% year over year.

  • Client: Non-Profit

Challenge:
Grow donations for a program to support a competitive sports team for those unable to play stand-up hockey.

Solution:
Focus on action driving keywords, social media, blog posts and fundraising activities.

Background: Building from practice to a competitive team
As a 501c (3) nonprofit organization, developed to give anyone who has a physical disability the opportunity to play competitive sports using adaptive equipment.  The players are single and double amputees and paraplegics. They are disabled veterans, adults who’ve suffered car and motorcycle accidents, and those with birth defects like spina bifida and cerebral palsy.  After moving to competitive tournaments, the team was required to split from their previous practice team and start their own 501c3.

Process: Optimized Copy, Focused Keywords, and Social Media
We started from scratch building a new website and blog to let businesses know what Sled Hockey is and how it can contribute to charitable, scientific, literary and educational learning as well as to foster national or international amateur sports competition.  With help of the players and parents, we developed a focused list of keywords, appropriate website copy and implemented Google certified tactics. Social media marketing was a big part of the campaign targeted perfectly to those most likely to interact with the sport.

We continuously monitor site traffic, rankings and engagement as we fine-tune the program even more.

Results: Very targeted Reach, and High Partnership Growth

The numbers speak for themselves. Follower growth was up 58%. Average engagement rate was more than 21% and we saw growth in both player participation and donors.
